For as long as she has known her, Wilma’s Granny has always been a person who proudly lives alone in her own home, and enjoys her independence from the rest of the family. But the summer that Wilma turns twelve, her Granny has a stroke, and can no longer live alone. Eventually, Wilma’s parents decide that Wilma should be the one to live with Granny and take care of her. Wilma and Granny have never gotten along, and they don’t become fast friends, but as the summer progresses, Wilma starts to understand that while she is growing up, her Granny, in turn, is growing old.
