My name is CJ. Clare, Daphne and I are the brains behind Means2Me. As childless women of a certain age, we began to wonder: What can we do with all of our stuff? At first, we waded through books, toys, clothes, jewelry…so much stuff…and donated it to local organizations. However, we began to hit the wall of memories. Certain items, once touched, evoked a plethora of emotions and we found ourselves unable to part with them. How could Clare give away a most treasured book? Would Daphne be able to part with her precious gumball machine? Could CJ bear to let her doll bunk beds go?
The answer was a resounding “No!”
Alas, we found ourselves back at square one.
Then, one day, I ran an idea by the ladies: what if we create a space to sell what matters most to us? We decided to share our stuff, along with a smattering of the memories, with you.
And eureka, a multi-million-dollar business was born.
Um, no, not really. A “multi-million memories to sell” business was born. The dollars? Perhaps in time!
Over countless COVID Zooms, we hashed out our ideas and we dared to dream we could see this idea to fruition.
We knew, dating ourselves, that we wanted a Willy Wonka feel to the site. That’s not to say we only want Generation Xers selling their stories. We simply wanted that feeling we got when Charlie first entered the candy shop: wooden floors, penny candy (adjust for inflation, but you get our drift), and the hopefulness of possibility.
We consider ourselves StorySellers and we hope you will find that special something that you just must have. So, buy not just our items, but their stories.
